Among the different types of photography genre, animal photography is consider as one of the more risky and dangerous genre, but also one that brings a huge amount of satisfaction when one manage to capture a shot that is rare and precious. The reasons that animal photography is consider dangerous is because the subject of the photography (mainly, the animals) are deem unpredictable, it also takes more than just equipments and skills of the photographer to capture animal photographs. The photographer will need to be mentally and physically prepared for wild animal photography.
While, the genre of animal photography encompasses all sorts of animals, there are two different categories of animals that the photographers will be dealing with. The safer option will be domestic animals, such as domestic pets like dogs, cats, and hamster and in some cases reptiles. The more challenging aspect of will be wild animal photography, featuring wild animals (lions, bears, birds) in their natural habitat. For this topic, we decided to dedicate this particular post to animal enthusiast and feature some of the more amazing and inspiring animal photographs.
When tackling with this particular photography genre, photographers might start with domestic animals, seeing that they are less dangerous, less afraid of humans and photographers might even be able to stage a particular scene with the animals. However, some photographers might wish to challenge themselves with wild animals, but these animals are unpredictable, seeing that these animals might be easily frightened and might attack or run off when they feel threaten. This is also one of the reasons why the photographer should make proper research in order to understand the habitat and behavior of a particular animal before hand; it is also wise to know the kind of shots that you want to take prior the shot too. Patience is also a very important factor when dealing with animal photography, seeing that you might have to stay put in one area for an extended period of time before you manage to capture your subject and even then there are also many times that a photographer might return home empty handed.
It is advised that you should always set your camera properly before hand, normally a faster shutter speed is recommended and some knowledge on the animal subject, such as the season that they appear, their behavior and habitat will make things easier for you.
We hope our readers will enjoy and be inspired by this week’s collection. For those interested, it is always recommended to start small and practice with your pets at home; and should you attempt wild animal photography keep in mind that a little distance will never hurt.
